The Australian TV presenter recently quit her role as host of the reality dance contest to take over Kennerley's old breakfast television show alongside David Campbell.
Kruger has now said that she hopes the rumors that Kennerley has signed on for the next series of Dancing with the Stars are true, telling the Herald Sun that it felt "weird" that she might be doing a "kind of job swap" with Kennerley.
She added: "I think she would have an absolute blast doing the show, and I'll be watching because she's a legend. It's totally her world."
Campbell said: "I think it would be easier to take over [Kennerley's] show than to be on Dancing with the Stars this year if she's on it. She's a showgirl, she's so charismatic, she's an institution. People love her, she's a perfect candidate."
Kruger has also revealed that she defected from the Seven Network to the Nine Network last year because she wanted to take a chance.
"I didn't want to look back in a couple of years taking the safe option and think, 'I wonder what would have happened'," she said.
"I thought, 'Well, what are you afraid of? What's the worst thing that could happen?' Well, you get sacked - well, that's happened before!"
Celebrities currently rumoured to be in the running for Dancing with the Stars 2012 include Home and Away actress Rhiannon Fish and former breakfast television presenter Kim Watkins.
