The actress will next be seen starring in Players opposite Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.
Basu told The Times of India: "Isn't kissing very different from wearing a bikini? Kissing is also very different from doing a lovemaking scene, where we just cheat. We don't make out in real, do we?
"Locking lips is a very intimate emotion. Yes, I did kiss Ranbir [Kapoor] in Bachna Ae Haseeno, but I didn't sleep a month before shooting that kiss. I kept telling Aditya Chopra to change that scene, I even told him to convert it into a lovemaking scene but ..."
Basu will be making her first appearance in a bikini on screen since Dhoom 2.
She said: "It is the second time on celluloid yes, but the millionth time in real life. I am quite a beach bum. But I won't wear a bikini in a movie for just the heck of it.
"Do you know that I said 'No' to wearing one in Rohan Sippy's Dum Maro Dum? Players is a James Bondish flick, very fast and furious. The bikini suits it. There's more on this bikini... "
In July, Basu admitted that she had waited more than a decade before piercing her navel because of her fear of needles.
