The actor expressed confidence that American producers will retain the original E4 sitcom's brand of humour and gave his approval to their reimagining of his dimwitted character Neil.

Asked for his thoughts on The Inbetweeners USA, Harrison told The British Comedy Guide: "I think it's good. I think they are going down the airhead/stoner type route [for Neil], which is a good take on it.
"I don't see why [it wouldn't work]. Contrary to what a lot of people are saying on the internet, Americans do comedy exceptionally well."

The Inbetweeners co-creator Iain Morris recently stood up for the remake on Twitter, telling fans of the UK version: "You might like it, you might hate it, but don't pre-judge it."
The Inbetweeners premieres on MTV in the US tonight (August 20).
