"If there's more to say and more to do than absolutely, yeah [I'd come back]," she said.

Pulver also addressed the controversy that had surrounded the UK broadcast of her Sherlock appearance.

Discussing the reaction to her character's nude scene, the 31-year-old said: "It was literally one newspaper [that complained] in the UK, and a few viewers. With nine and a half million viewers, a few people were upset. I think there's something to embrace about flesh. It's human."

Pulver went on to describe her co-stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as "naughty little boys".

"Martin is very naughty," she admitted. "They're both very playful and responsive. Martin, especially, will throw you completely different interpretations of scenes, all the time. It brings so many different colours to the scene, which makes it really interesting to go to work."

Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss recently revealed that the first episode of the third series will be an adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'The Adventure of the Empty House'.

New episodes of the BBC drama are expected to begin shooting in early 2013.
