'The Voice' UK's Vince Freeman 'livid' at exit: 'My hands were tied'

By
Voice UK eliminee Vince Freeman has spoken of his frustration at being booted out of the show.

Freeman lost out against Bo Bruce on Saturday night, when the hopefuls were asked to perform a duet version of U2's 'With or Without You'.

The axed singer told This Is Gloucestershire that he is "livid" about the decision, which he attributes to the fact that mentor and coach Danny O'Donoghue had told him to tone down his vocal performance during rehearsals.

Freeman said: "I am livid about it. I was put in a difficult situation - I could go against my mentor, knowing that I would not go through, or I could do as I was told knowing I was having my hands tied behind my back.

"I don't have a problem with Bo but I'm not happy about how the situation was manoeuvred."

Freeman expressed his frustration via his Twitter account, where fans have also tweeted messages of support.

"thought I was supposed to be mentored not handicapped #shouldnthavelistened," he wrote.

Although he stated before his audition that he had "no plan B", Freeman has lined up gigs in his home town of Cheltenham, and maintains that the Voice experience was a positive one.

"For me, The Voice has been a fantastic experience for getting my name out there," he said. "It's long been an ambition to play the Town Hall.

"Cheltenham is my home and I've seen so many of my heroes play there that I'm excited to be doing it."
