'True Blood', 'Homeland', 'Cougar Town': Tube Talk Q&A

By
It's Thursday and as any Tube Talk fanatic knows, that means it's time for another question and answer session! This week, you posed a number of puzzlers regarding True Blood, Homeland, Cougar Town, Glee and more, and as ever, we've done our best to bring you just the facts!

I've heard a lot about Armando Iannucci's US show Veep. Will we get it here?

Indeed, Mr Alan Partridge himself has been making plenty of waves Stateside with his new comedy, which is set in the office of a fictional US vice president played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Luckily us Brits won't have to wait long to see it. Sky Atlantic has snatched up the rights to Veep and will premiere it sometime in June, just when the real-life American elections start getting underway.

Still not excited? Well how about if we tell you that it's written by Iannucci's Thick Of It team and directors will include Chris Morris of Brass Eye and comedy dynamo Tristram Shapeero (Ab Fab, Peep Show, Community, New Girl, etc)? Yeah, though that might excite ya.

Any news yet on the future of Cougar Town?

If only. We want Courteney Cox's criminally unloved sitcom to stay on the air as much as you do. We even included it in our post on the Top 5 shows we don't want to see axed.

The bad news is that Cougar Town cast members have been fleeing to pilots all over the place, which is never a good sign. But ratings have been improving and creator Bill Lawrence has urged Twitter followers to "keep the faith" because he's "good at keeping shows alive". So carry on hoping for the best and reminding yourself that Scrubs made it to nine seasons.

I miss True Blood so much already. When's it back again?

Perhaps a little sooner than you think. Rumour has it that FX has struck up a deal with HBO to screen season five of True Blood in the UK closer than ever before to its US air date.

We know that Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and their ridiculously sexy co-stars are returning in America on June 10, so look out for it in the summer or autumn. In the meantime, check out our full True Blood coverage and sink your teeth into the latest trailers, news and gossip.

When is New Girl coming back on Channel 4? Love that show.

So do we! We're having major Zooey Deschanel withdrawals. We tried to contact Channel 4 for you guys, but nobody's come back to us yet with an answer for when New Girl will return. But don't worry, we'll keep at them!

When New Girl DOES return, Jess will end up putting everyone's living arrangements in jeopardy when she defies Nick (Jake Johnson) and befriends their landlord. Hilarity will undoubtedly ensue.

Two episodes of Glee are being shown on the same night in the US, will we also get them on the same day?

Yes! Sky1 has confirmed that episodes 20 and 21 of Glee's third season will air back-to-back on May 17. So for once we get the same privileges as the US. Hoorah!

It's also been revealed that the episodes in question will see the New Directions swap bodies thanks to Tina's (Jenna Ushkowitz) concussion, before they regroup and sing their little hearts out at Nationals. Let's hope the double bill is plenty funny - we suspect we'll need a laugh after the upcoming domestic violence storyline. Gulp!

Can't believe Homeland is almost over! When is season two going to air?

Slow down! The second season of the superb Claire Danes / Damian Lewis thriller won't even come to Showtime in the US until September 30, so it'll be a little while yet until it materialises on Channel 4. But given how big a hit the show's been, we really can't imagine Channel 4 letting it slip away - we reckon early 2013 is a good bet.

To fill the gap, why not check out Prisoners of War - the Israeli drama that served as the basis for Homeland? It's a very different but mighty impressive show and debuts on Sky Arts 1 on Wednesday, May 9 at 9pm.

Is it true that Sky Living isn't going to show any more Drop Dead Diva?

Don't panic! Those rumors about Drop getting dropped (sorry) are just that - rumors! From what we here, the channel remains committed to the show and does indeed have the broadcast rights for the fourth season...

There's no confirmed air date yet for the new episodes - bear in mind that season four doesn't even premiere in the US until June. Late 2012 is as good as we've got for now, so you've got a little while to wait until you get to witness the full glory of Kim Kardashian doing acting.
