Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps is an American swimmer and Olympic champion. He was born in Maryland, just north of Baltimore. He is the most successful Olympian of all time with a total of 22 medals won (18 of these are gold).
Phelps has announced that he has retired from swimming with effect from the close of the London 2012 Olympics. He won 4 gold and 2 silver medals at the 2012 games and was awarded with a special recognition award for his achievements in the Olympic games.
Outside sport Phelps has set up the Michael Phelps foundation for promoting healthier lifestyles and has appeared in marketing campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Speedo and AT&T.
