Posting on his message board, the creator announced that Next Men: Aftermath will continue the series numbering, kicking off with issue #40.
"It spins right out of the 'last' issue of Next Men, and features several familiar characters," said Byrne. "It also takes a very, very, very different direction."
Debuting in 1992 as part of Dark Horse's Dark Horse Presents anthology, Next Men went on to span 30 issues under the firm's Legends imprint. After a lengthy hiatus, IDW picked up the title from issue #31.
Next Men concludes later this year. A release date for the sequel is yet to be announced.
