Promising more information to be released on Monday on its official website, Marvel encouraged fans to speculate on Twitter with the #firstxmen hashtag.
Technically speaking, the first X-Men were Jean Grey, Cyclops, Beast, Ice-Man, Angel and their mentor Professor X.
The characters were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963's The X-Men #1.
The mutant team currently stand divided following X-Men: Schism and are being drawn into a battle with their superhero contemporaries in the events miniseries Avengers vs. X-Men.
No more information regarding The First X-Men has been revealed.
