The celebrated and controversial comics series surpassed its Kickstarter goal within nine hours, reports Comics Alliance.
The crowd sourcing project has currently raised $30,451. The original goal was set at $6,000.
The 300-issue series ran from 1977 to 2004, starring the eponymous anthropomorphic aardvark in a story that began as a pastiche of the 'sword and sorcery' genre.
As it progressed, the 6,000-page project became a platform for any topic that Sim desired, famously exploring a series of controversial and divisive viewpoints on politics and feminism.
The project will begin by adapting the popular 'High Society' storyline.
