Players will assume the role of a child visiting their eccentric uncle Fitz Quadwrangle, who has gone missing in his large manor and laboratory.
Using a special glove can shift the world through different dimensions to solve puzzles and advance through the game to find the lost professor.
Examples include a 'slow motion' dimension, and a 'fluffy' dimension that makes all objects lighter and easier to move.
Portal creator Kim Swift is creative director for the title, which is in development at Airtight Games. Airtight Games previously developed Dark Void, which released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2010.
A public unveiling for the game will occur during the 'Square Enix Presents...' panel on August 27 at PAX in Seattle, Washington.
Quantum Conundrum is slated to release on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC in 2012.
