The game will be a departure from past titles in the series, playing out as a real-time board game.
Players will collect a gallery of character cards and engage in what Ubisoft calls "tactical political battles".
It will feature an eight to ten-hour storyline made up of 20 missions, in addition to multiplayer modes.
Assassin's Creed: Recollection will also include a free copy of the animated short Assassin's Creed: Embers, which depicts the final days of Ezio Auditore.
The game is currently only confirmed for iPad, with a release date set for "Holiday 2011".
