The arcade reboot will feature the classic traffic-dodging gameplay along with new modes such as Tile Capture, Battle Royale and Freak Out. Multiplayer options will also allow up to four players or computer opponents to compete in any of the new modes.
A variety of visual styles will be available in Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition, including neon, retro pixels, and classic Konami themes inspired by Contra and Castlevania.
The game is slated as a downloadable title for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare, made by Blacklight: Retribution developer Zombie Studios.
Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition is scheduled to release this Spring, and will also be made available across a number of smartphone platforms.
The original Frogger game made its debut in 1981, and three titles - Frogger Decades and Frogger Free for iOS and Frogger 3D for Nintendo DS - were released last year to mark Frogger's 30th anniversary.
