BioWare has confirmed that update '1.3: Allies' will be available to download for the multiplayer online game on June 26.
The expansion will bring tweaks rather than overhauls, introducing Legacy Perks, Ranked Warzones, Adaptive Gear and a new Group Finder. Additional character slots will be added in the near future.
Lead designer Emmanuel Lusinchi told Digital Spy: "We have been prioritising the features that were the most requested by the players, and those that will have an impact on their play style.
"So our focus has been helping players find other players, find groups, find friends with greater ease. If our subscribers are playing with other people, they are more likely to become caught up in the game, because it then becomes a social experience."
Lusinchi went on to say that update 1.3 was designed with veteran players in mind, rewarding them for the time they have invested with a more customisable gameplay experience.
He added: "There are some players who have been taking part in the game for six months, and they know what they like and don't like. Catering for this type of player is a big focus of 1.3, it's going to let them play the game the way they want to. If all they want to do is PvP and space combat, they can do that.
"We're going to increase the amount of XP they receive for playing the content that they like. There are many other tweaks and perks that you can select to really customise the gameplay. We want to regard the veteran players and let them play the game the way they want."
