'Magic Mike': Hollywood's greatest ever movie strippers

Before Channing Tatum hit it big in Hollywood, the actor helped to pay the bills by working as a male stripper in Alabama under the name Chan Crawford.

Tatum channels his experiences into new movie Magic Mike, playing a dancer who takes young novice 'The Kid' (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing to show him the clothes-shedding ropes at club Xquisite alongside Dallas (Matthew McConaughey), Ken (Matt Bomer) and Big D*ck Richie (Joe Manganiello).
The Magic Mike cast aren't the first to take their clothes off in the name of big screen entertainment.

Over the years we've seen out-of-work Sheffield steel workers strip in The Full Monty, Demi Moore go naked in Striptease, Jessica Alba lasso paying customers in Sin City and Natalie Portman don a pink wig for Closer.

Digital Spy celebrates the release of Magic Mike by taking a look back at 20 of cinema's most memorable strippers.

Magic Mike is out now in the US and opens in the UK on July 11.
