According to Screen Rant, production on both Avatar 2 and The Wolverine has been disrupted by the natural disaster.
Avatar 2 director James Cameron reportedly planned to explore the Mariana Trench, which is located to the South-East of Japan. The director hoped to use the area as inspiration for designing the oceans of Pandora, since Avatar 2 will focus on the planet's underwater environment.
Meanwhile, part of the storyline of The Wolverine was allegedly supposed to take place in Japan. However, since Darren Aronofsky stepped down as director of the film, Fox is reportedly in no rush to find a replacement. Therefore, the news that shooting will be delayed is not likely to influence production at this point.
Avatar 2 is scheduled to open in theatres in 2014, while The Wolverine is slated for 2012.
