Emma Watson in 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' - first look pictures

Harry Potter star Emma Watson steps away from Hogwarts for her new role in romantic drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The 21-year-old will play Sam, a girl who becomes the object of affection for Logan Lerman's high-school freshman Charlie.

Lerman told Digital Spy of starring with Watson: "She definitely is an incredible actress, it was great working with her. We had a good time making that film."

The Perks of Being a Wallflower co-stars Nina Dobrev, Dylan McDermott, Paul Rudd, Mae Whitman, Melanie Lynskey, Ezra Miller and Johnny Simmons.

Stephen Chbosky wrote and directed the film based on his own 1999 novel.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is expected to open in cinemas in 2012.
