Geoffrey Edelsten has secured The Expendables 2 director Simon West for his new movie Dust and Glory.

Medical entrepreneur Edelsten, who will be executive producer of the film about car racing around Australia in the 1950s, said that he and his younger wife Brynne would both like roles in the movie.

Geoffrey told the Herald Sun: "I paid the deposit for [West] to sign on. I would love to play the editor of the Sydney Morning Herald in it. There are a number of roles for Brynne... it is something the producers and Simon West need to talk to Brynne about."

Earlier this year, Brynne's manager revealed that she was receiving movie offers following her stint on Dancing with the Stars.

Geoffrey has also revealed that he hopes Scarlett Johansson will accept a major role in the feature film.

West has also directed films such as Tomb Raider and Con Air, and will soon direct Sam Worthington, Gerard Butler and Matthew McConaughey in Thunder Run.

Geoffrey has revealed that he thinks the script of Dust and Glory is "fantastic", but said that he made changed "some of the storylines" to make sure that the movie appeals "to the US as well as Australia" and attracts a worldwide audience.

Production on Dust and Glory is scheduled to start in the next few months.
