Super Hero Hype reports that the book has been written by author Greg Cox, who has written novelisations for other movie properties such as Star Trek and Terminator.

Nick Landau, publisher at Titan which is releasing the book, says: "We're tremendously excited to work with Warner Bros. on the novelisation of The Dark Knight Rises, especially since it is the culmination of everything Christopher Nolan has done with his amazing trilogy.

"This is a part of motion picture history."

The Dark Knight Rises will be the last instalment in Christopher Nolan's Batman series. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman return to their roles.

Anne Hathaway also stars as Catwoman while Tom Hardy stars as the major villain Bane.

Hardy has said that his villain will be very different to the Joker character played by the late Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.
