Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, the Lockout star discussed the forthcoming Ridley Scott movie, in which he plays Peter Weyland.
He revealed: "Through the course of making the film they started talking to me and the other actors about various ways of marketing the film and giving some sort of backstory and hints to what this whole Prometheus kind of world may be about. It seemed like a great idea to me."
When asked whether more viral videos will follow his own recent appearance as the cybernetics entrepreneur in a 2023 TED conference video, Pearce said: "I think so, yes."
Describing Prometheus as "far more than a prequel", Pearce teased that the movie "stands alone and it's got some great ideas and wonderful philosophical approaches", adding: "It's a much grander film than I think Alien is."
The Australian actor, who played Mike Young in Neighbours from 1986 to 1989, also joked that any alien creatures in the movie could never be as terrifying as the iconic soap character Mrs Mangel.
