The movie focuses on Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones as a long-married couple who are struggling with intimacy.
Kay (Streep) convinces the reluctant Arnold (Jones) to join her for a visit to a couples specialist (Steve Carell) in the town of Great Hope Springs, but progress is harder than either Kay or Arnold imagined.
David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) is directing Hope Springs for Columbia Pictures from a script by Vanessa Taylor.
Jeff Bridges was formerly rumoured for the part of Arnold, alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman as the therapist.
Jones will next be seen reprising his role as Agent K in Men in Black III.
Streep can currently be heard narrating the IMAX documentary To The Arctic 3D.
Hope Springs will debut in cinemas on August 10.
