Joss Whedon's superhero epic broke opening day records in New Zealand and Taiwan, taking $800,000 (£494,000) and $1.2 million (£741,000) respectively.
Marvel Studios' latest earned a further $6.2 million (£3.9m) in Australia - making it the country's second-highest opening behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 - on top of $3 million (£1.9m) from France.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film's performance in Australia makes it Marvel's most successful launch in the territory by a significant margin, out-performing Iron Man by 233%.
Avengers, which launches in another 42 markets this weekend, has been tipped to gross more than $150 million (£92.7m) when it lands in the US.
The film debuted in UK theatres today (April 26).
