The film doesn't open for another month in any territories, but Deadline reports that Universal is moving ahead with a sequel.
Starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, Snow White and the Huntsman is billed as a darker, revisionist take on the fairy tale, as the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) sends the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) into the woods to kill Snow White.
The Huntsman becomes her protector and mentor, and they set off on a journey to rid the kingdom of the Queen.
Writer David Koepp (Mission: Impossible, Spider-man) is in talks to pen the sequel, in which Stewart, Hemsworth and Theron are all likely to reprise their roles. First-time director Rupert Sanders would also be likely to return.
Stewart has said that she was "terrified" by some of her stunts in the film.
