Nicole Kidman will star in and produce The Family Fang.

The film will reunite her with Rabbit Hole director David Lindsay-Abaire, reports Deadline.

The Family Fang will be based on Kevin Wilson's novel of the same name, which Lindsay-Abaire is adapting for the big screen.

The story centres around two children whose performance artist parents coerce them into a series of increasingly outlandish spectacles throughout their childhoods.

Returning home after a string of disasters, the kids agree to participate in one last show which will bring their conflict to a head.

Kidman and Per Saari optioned The Family Fang last year through their Blossom Films company.

The actress will next be seen in vampire tale Stoker and thriller The Paperboy alongside Zac Efron. She is also loosely attached to the Grace Kelly biopic Grace of Monaco.

Kidman received an Oscar nomination for her role in Rabbit Hole.
