Chris Pine will star in Mantivities.

The Star Trek actor is co-writer on the comedy, with Drop Dead Gorgeous director Michael Patrick Jann also attached to the project, reports Deadline.

The film centres around a group of friends in their 30s who refuse to grow up.

The group band together to help one of their number mature.

The script was written by Pine with his friends Will Greenberg, Drew Howerton, Robert Baker, Ian Gotler and Tony Liebetrau.

"I couldn't be happier to begin the adventure of making Mantivities knowing how much fun we all had writing it," Pine said.

"Somehow, I get to laugh with my friends and call it work."

Waterstone Entertainment heads Jeff Kalligheri, Stephen Bowen and Steven Garcia will produce alongside Pine, Sarah Babineau and Jordan Foley.

Pine will next be seen in Star Trek 2 and People Like Us, and has lent his voice to Rise of the Guardians.
