The picture shows Jeremy Renner in character as new CIA operative Aaron Cross – who replaces Matt Damon's Jason Bourne as the lead in this instalment – and Rachel Weisz at his side.
Released by The Playlist from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, this is the first image of Weisz, whose role in the film has remained mysterious beyond her character's name Marta.
The first image of Renner as Cross was released earlier this year.
Damon has stated that he "expects to return" to the Bourne franchise, while Renner has expressed a wish to collaborate with Damon on the next instalment.
The Bourne Legacy is released on August 3 in the US and August 13 in the UK. Watch the trailer below:
