The Hollywood Reporter understands that early tracking figures put Marc Webb's movie reboot on course to become one of the summer's top earners, behind only The Avengers.

By comparison, Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man earned $144 million (£91m) in its first six days, Spider-Man 2 $180 million (£114m), and Spider-Man 3 $151.1 million (£95m).
Avengers claims the record for a superhero movie with $258 million (£164m) made during its first six days, followed by The Dark Knight with $222 million (£141m).
Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield in the lead role with Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy. The movie has received largely positive reviews from critics so far.
Amazing Spider-Man opens in theatres on July 3.
