The Beatles have been named the biggest-selling vinyl act of 2010.

The group, whose last studio album Let It Be was released in 1970, sold more vinyl records in the US than any other artist in the last 12 months.

The band's 1969 LP Abbey Road topped the list, while rockers Arcade Fire took second place with their chart-topping album The Suburbs.

Michael Jackson's Thriller was the third highest-selling vinyl, while The Black Keys' song 'Brothers' and Vampire Weekend's Contra rounded off the top five.

The magazine reports that despite the 13 percent drop in overall album sales, 2.8 million vinyl discs were sold in the States in 2010 - their biggest sales tally since 1991.
