The new surge in sales means the song has passed the previous record of 6.2m sold, which belonged to GaGa's 'Poker Face', reports Billboard.
However, Adele has a little way to go before she can claim the top-selling US digital single of all time, with The Black Eyed Peas' 'I've Gotta Feeling' leading the list with sales of 7.82m.
Meanwhile, Adele's 21 was the first ever album to go triple platinum on US iTunes, after clocking up digital sales of 2 million on the Apple-owned store.
