Adding her thoughts about the iconic singer, Beyoncé wrote on her official website: "The Bee Gees were an early inspiration for me, Kelly and Michelle.

"We loved their songwriting and beautiful harmonies. Recording their classic song, 'Emotion', was a special time for Destiny's Child. Sadly we lost Robin Gibb this week. My heart goes out to his brother Barry and the rest of his family."

Destiny's Child released 'Emotion' as a single in 2001. The song reached number 10 on the US Hot 100 and number three on the UK chart.

Gibb is to have a memorial dedicated to him at St. Paul's Cathedral, which will celebrate his life and work in what is being described as "the biggest send-off since the death of John Lennon".
