The 53-year-old 'Irish Blood, English Heart' singer recently told Juice Online that he will likely step away from the spotlight at the age of 55.
"I am slightly shocked to have gone as far as I have. This is my 30th year, and I've aged a lot recently, which is a bit distressing for me, as it must be for everyone," Morrissey explained.
The musician continued: "The body changes shape and there's nothing you can do about it... I take one hour at a time."
Morrissey most recently released his ninth studio album Years of Refusal in 2009.
Years of Refusal came nearly 25 years after Morrissey burst onto the music scene as frontman for The Smiths.
He caused controversy earlier this week when he slated the Diamond Jubilee as a "new lesson in the force of tyranny".
