Rihanna scores first US number one album with 'Unapologetic'

Rihanna has scored her first number one album in the US with Unapologetic.

The singer's seventh studio LP sold 238,000 copies in the States since its release last week, reports Billboard.

The figure also marks her highest first-week sales in America, after 2010's Loud opened on 207,000 and debuted at number three.

Rihanna thanked her fans on her official Twitter page last night, commenting: "Wait!!!!! What the F**K?!!!! #UNAPOLOGETIC just debuted at #1 in AMERICA!!!!! My first number 1 album there!!! Thank you Navy, u deserve it.

"I'm legit crying like a p**sy right now!! #UNAPOLOGETIC".

It was recently reported that the record has been withheld from Spotify. Her label Big Machine Records explained: "We're not putting the brand-new releases on Spotify.

"If we just throw out everything we have, we're done."
