Rebecca Ferguson: 'Glitter & Gold' - Single review

Before releasing her debut album Heaven, Rebecca Ferguson made no bones about seeking lyrical inspiration from previous boyfriends. "I haven't had it easy in relationships - who has, though?" she told Digital Spy earlier this year. But while most singers opt for a collection of mostly bitter vengeance, this is one artist who seemingly prefers taking the high road.

'Glitter & Gold' is about as sour as she gets, though it would be considered tame by Adele's standards. "All those friends you've left behind/ You're gonna need them when it's cold outside," she warns over a gentle soul groove, before telling the Other Woman that she's been "bought and sold" by her cheating ex. "Take care of your soul," she proffers with just the right amount of sass - and given she's somewhat of an expert on the subject, they'd be wise to take note.
