During a recent interview with Digital Spy, Devlin revealed that he has to be "clever" about his music these days if he wants to be successful but still appeal to his longtime fans. Having worked the underground scene for near-on ten years he's certainly earned his stripes, but history has taught us that the transition from rising rapper to pop chart leader is rarely a smooth one.
Not that it's stopped him going all out on 'Watchtower', which boasts an impressive lineup of Labrinth on production duties and a guest spot from Ed Sheeran. Even riskier is the chorus, which samples Bob Dylan's 'All Along The Watchtower' but opts for Hendrix's '60s-rawk version. The result, we're pleased to report, is a colossal grime-rock anthem with slick rhymes for the fans and plenty of spunk for the charts.
