Playlist: 10 tracks you need to hear

By and Lewis Corner
MIA: 'Come Walk with Me' (release date tbc)
With the quite frankly bizarre Super Bowl controversy brushed under the carpet, MIA has put out a preview of a new track from her forthcoming album Matangi. It's a typically hectic affair, but as is normally the case, it's also wonderfully addictive. RC

Wisin & Yandel ft. Jennifer Lopez: 'Follow the Leader' (US: now, UK: N/A)
The Puerto Rican reggaetron duo have bagged the services of JLo for their latest song, which is sizzling with more Latin American flavour than a spicy taquito. The pair will also support Lopez and Enrique Iglesias on their forthcoming US tour - and we're keeping our fingers crossed for the announcement of those UK dates any day now. LC

DJ Fresh: 'The Power' (UK: June 3)
After his successful team-up with Rita Ora on 'Hot Right Now', DJ Fresh has now enlisted the services of Dizzee Rascal. If the rapper's East London flow wasn't enough, club beats and a funk-fulled guitar riff certainly makes this a contender for one of the summer's biggest anthems. LC

Chew Lips: 'Do You Chew?' (out June 11)
Following the release of their debut album Unicorn in 2010, pop duo Chew Lips have returned with their sights set firmly on the charts. 'Do You Chew?' is a bouncy, R&B-flecked ditty packed with all manner of quirks and a punchy, in-yer-face chorus to boot - leaving us mightily intrigued for the new LP later this year. RC

Carly Rae Jepsen: 'Curiosity' (release date tbc)
Those who have just managed to dislodge Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' from their brains may wish to avert their ears from her next track for the time being. While it's not as sprightly as her debut, 'Curiosity' contains an equally addictive hook in its chorus. You have been warned. RC

Tom Jones: 'Hit or Miss' (out now)
It was inevitable that Sir Tom would take advantage of his new-found position as a coach on The Voice UK and release a new album. The iconic singer has reworked a collection of classic songs for his new record Spirit In The Room. Lead single is a rendition of Odetta's 'Hit or Miss', which is a soulful blend of country twangs and Jones's familiar husky tones. LC

New Young Pony Club: You Used to Be a Man (out now)
We weren't sure about New Young Pony Club's latest track when we first heard it, but after repeated listens we can confirm it is a grower. It may be minimal, but as it turns out, it's near-impossible not to be taken in by its quirky lyrics and beat-bleeping '80s chorus. Watch the official music video below: RC

Willow Smith: 'Do It Like Me (Rockstar)' (release date tbc)
The 11-year-old has failed to recapture the public's attention since her head-bopping debut 'Whip My Hair', but here's hoping her latest cut will help her get back into the charts. With bags of confidence and attitude, it may be easy to forget that Willow has yet to begin high school, but it's clear to see that she is fully embracing the education of becoming a future superstar. LC

Saint Etienne: 'I've Got Your Music' (out May 21)
The London trio will release 'I've Got Your Music' as the second single to be lifted from their new album Words and Music by Saint Etienne. Wistful melodies and pop beats are the result of a collaboration with electronic godfather Richard X. Better yet, there's more to come from the fruitful relationship on their new album. LC

2:54: 'Creeping' (out June 18)
The atmospheric and goth-tinged sound of 2:54's new single immediately put us in mind of The xx, so it comes as no surprise that the electronic duo - made up of Colette and Hannah Thurlow - will be supporting the band on one of their upcoming shows. The song comes with the equally entrancing 'The March' when it's released on June 18. RC
