The event, held to raise money for the mental health charity Mind, took place earlier today (September 22).
A little over 200 people reportedly braved the cool weather at Druridge Bay in Northumberland.
Participants were unable to break the current record made at Rhossili beach in Wales last year, where 400 skinny dippers took the plunge.
Organiser Jacqueline Higginson told The Daily Telegraph: "Today loads of us ran naked into the sea to raise money for Mind and to celebrate ourselves and our bodies.
"I did a skinny dip last year where we broke the world record, I don't think there was enough to do it today but there was enough of us for it to be a lot of fun."
In August, a nudist club based in Oxfordshire attempted to break the record at Cornbury Park.
