The 28-year-old Australian TV star and model, who is best known for her brief stint playing Sienna Cammeniti in Neighbours, said that she does not want to give the wrong impression to teenagers who look up to her.
McNaught told The Sunday Telegraph: "It's not that I want to hide them, it's about the image I want to project to 14 and 15-year-olds. You don't want them thinking tattoos are cool; not at that age."
The star, who has four tattoos altogether, said that her inkings include a swallow on her wrist which symbolised a fresh start after her split from sports star Braith Anasta last year.
She said: "I'd just come out of a relationship and it was something I'd wanted to do and I thought it was a good time for it. When I found out swallows mean new beginnings I sort of felt it was right for me at the time.
"[I also have an] umbrella on my foot, a weird little symbol on my ankle and an anchor on my right arm. They each have their own little meaning."
