The Footloose star, who is also a successful country singer and former Dancing with the Stars professional, revealed during a new interview with Parade that her first priority is booking more film roles, but added that she plans to return to music and dance in the future.
"As a kid growing up I always wanted to do all three and I could never do one without the other. To me, they're the most fulfilling things that I do in my life," Hough explained.
"So yes, right now, I am focused on the acting aspect but each project is something new and different and that is what I love about doing all three. It's new and fresh and inspiring every time."
Hough went on to reveal the topics she would like to discuss when she records a follow-up to her 2008 debut album, Julianne Hough.
"Trials and tribulations and struggles that I go through now. Whether it's travelling and being away from home and family or relationships. Hurt and loss. There are a lot of things," she said.
"I think a lot of people see a person in front of the camera who is always positive and happy and willing to take on any challenges but there are reasons why I'm like that. People don't know those reasons so it would be fun to write about and see the deeper side of Julianne."
