'Sports Illustrated' Kate Upton is glorified Page 3 girl, says stylist

Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton has been dismissed as a glorified Page 3 girl by a leading stylist.

The 19-year-old's profile has soared since being named as the cover girl for the US publication's famous swimsuit issue.



However, Victoria's Secret stylist Sophia Neophitou has said that she is baffled by Upton's success, claiming that the retailer "would never use" a model with such "obvious" features.

"She's like a Page 3 girl," the fashion expert told The New York Times. "She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."



Discussing her selection for Sports Illustrated this week, Upton told NBC's Today programme: "Honestly, being on the cover was my dream so I just want to live in this moment.

"I know it's a huge career boost and I'm going to ride it out and see where it takes me."

Upton was recently voted one of world's most desirable women in a poll by Ask Men.
