The Hairspray actress was taken into custody for drink driving in the early hours of Friday morning (April 6) after she hit a police car with her own vehicle while trying to pass it.
Bynes was subsequently booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station and her bail was set at $5,000 - a fee which she posted later the same day, reports People.
The 26-year-old was seen on Friday (April 6) afternoon looking sombre, hiding her face as she exited the jail and taking a cab to retrieve her own car - a black BMW - from a tow lot.
The arrest was the second driving incident Bynes has been involved in this year.
In March, the star drove away from a police car during a routine traffic stop as an officer wrote her a ticket for talking on her mobile phone while driving.
