Pippa Middleton, Adele, Rihanna make Time 100 influential people list

Pippa Middleton, Adele and Rihanna are among the celebrities listed in this year's Time 100, compiling the most influential people in the world.

Middleton, who attracted attention for her dress at last year's royal wedding, was a joint entry with her sister Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

"The Middletons have become avatars of aspiration. Other women aim to dress like them, to emulate their easy athleticism and their more problematic slenderness," said the magazine's Europe editor Catherine Mayer.

"Latter-day Mona Lisas, they smile mysteriously and keep their mouths closed. In an age of bleating, tweeting, confessional celebrity, the middle-class Middletons show real class."

Kristen Wiig, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Tilda Swinton, A Separation filmmaker Asghar Farhadi and producer Harvey Weinstein represented the world of movies.

TV stars featured included comedians Louis CK, Chelsea Handler and Stephen Colbert, together with Homeland actress Clare Danes and Today host Matt Lauer.

Singer Raphael Saadiq also featured on the 2012 edition of the annual list.

Entries from the world of technology included hacking collective Anonymous, Mashable's Pete Cashmore, Apple CEO Tim Cook, IBM's CEO Virginia Rometty and Daniel Ek of Spotify.

While Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg did not feature, the social network was represented by its COO Sheryl Sandberg.

Entries in previous years have included comedian Ricky Gervais and Glastonbury music festival founder Michael Eavis.
