Beyoncé has been sued for $100 million (£62m) by a video game developer.

Gate Five alleges that the star backed out of a $20 million (£12.5m) deal for a planned game called Starpower: Beyoncé.

Attorneys for the 'Single Ladies' singer maintain that she was well within her rights to step away from the deal after she discovered that Gate Five had not budgeted for the demands of creating the game.

Gate Five has fought back, stating that Beyoncé unfairly pulled out just three days before she was scheduled to sign a contract with the company in December 2010.

The company claims that the singer's actions resulted in the company losing millions of dollars and having to fire 70 employees.

The New York Post reports that Justice Charles Ramos has allowed the lawsuit to go to trial, saying that Beyoncé should have given the company notice before backing out of the deal.

Beyoncé, who is reportedly planning to move to London with husband Jay-Z and baby Blue Ivy, has declined any comment.
