The Magic Mike director, who announced in September 2011 that he intended to take a break from making movies, opened up about his plans for the future.
"I've been planning this for five years," Soderbergh told Reuters.
"I gave myself an out date and I'm right on schedule," he continued. "I turn into a pumpkin in January."
He went on to say that he will likely move into television when he returns to the industry.
"After I take my self-imposed sabbatical, if I'm going to come back and do something, I think it's more likely that it would be on television than it would be a movie," Soderbergh said.
In July 2011, the director was forced to deny reports that he was retiring after Matt Damon claimed that Soderbergh was done with the film industry.
