Some sections of the press have since speculated that the Church of Scientology put pressure on the couple to settle quickly in order to avoid undue scrutiny.
Cruise's longtime attorney Bert Fields has deemed those claims as false in a statement to Radar Online.
Fields said: "Let me be very clear about this. The Church of Scientology played absolutely no role in the divorce settlement talks at all. Period.
"The mere suggestion that the Church was involved in any element of the talks and ultimate settlement is categorically false. Anyone suggesting otherwise is just wrong."

Earlier this week, sources said that Holmes agreed not to publicly discuss her marriage or Scientology as part of the settlement. Those claims have not been confirmed.
Holmes apparently also received primary physical custody of daughter Suri in the divorce agreement.
Cruise and Holmes announced the end of their five-year marriage on June 29.
