Keys explained that she has long respected Winfrey's commitment to charity work with the Angel Network and her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

"[Oprah] is a personal inspiration to me because her philanthropic work truly comes from the heart," Keys said in a statement.

Keep a Child Alive honoured the late Beatle George Harrison in 2011 and in previous years has celebrated former US President Bill Clinton and Bono's philanthropic efforts.

Keys recently released the single 'New Day', which will be included on her upcoming fifth studio album.
