Speaking to Access Hollywood, the actor revealed that since he wasn't given the opportunity to film with Paltrow when she made her Glee debut last year, he managed to sneak onto the Fox sitcom's set to meet the actress.
"I had to kind of go out of my way to say hi because I was so star struck," Criss revealed.
He continued: "My character doesn't go to the school. We're doing our own other show, we shoot in a different area, different people, so I was on set once and I pretended to go get floss or something completely arbitrary [to bump into her in order to say], 'Oh, hi! [I'm] Darren. Gwyneth? Nice to meet you!'"
The 24-year-old San Francisco native also praised Paltrow as a welcome presence on the Glee set, adding: "She's very sweet. She's been very kind to me. She's been very amazing."
It was reported earlier this week that Criss will perform on the upcoming Glee live tour alongside new additions, The Warblers and Ashley Fink.
Glee airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET/7pm CT on Fox in the US, and on Mondays at 9pm on E4 in the UK.
