The actress is currently on a break from the ITV1 soap as she is busy working on new comedy play The Awkward Squad.
Since departing the village a month ago, Val has frequently been mentioned in scripts - including when Eric (Chris Chittell) discovered that she had cleared out their joint bank account from Portugal.
Speaking on Loose Women today (March 13), Hardwick explained that her mother is keeping her posted on how the story is developing in her absence.
Hardwick commented: "My plan is to go back [to Emmerdale], but I've got no idea what I'm going back into and whether there'll still be a place beside my darling Eric.
"My mam texted me the other day saying I'd fleeced him! So I don't know what's happening in the lap of the gods."
She continued: "My mam is missing seeing me, because I [usually] go into her living room every night at 7pm. She's great - she keeps me informed with what they're saying about me on screen. I'm in Portugal, and obviously I've got a bit of dosh now because I've fleeced him!"
Hardwick also said that The Awkward Squad has been a huge hit with punters so far.
"It's on for another four weeks," she confirmed. "You will laugh and you will cry and you will have a great night out, guaranteed."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1.
