Neighbours actress Valentina Novakovic has said that she enjoyed the 'whodunnit' mystery surrounding the soap's 6,000th episode.

The show's milestone episode was marked with an unknown assailant pushing Ramsay Street legend Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) over the mezzanine balcony at the Lassiter's complex, leaving him in a coma.

Novakovic told Holy Soap: "We didn't know who it was until a couple of weeks after the 6,000th episode. I don't think even the person who did it knew.

"It was a massive thing for us. I really wanted to know who it was but it's kind of better if you don't. When I was reading the scripts, I was trying to figure out who it was. It made it more exciting."

Commenting on the characters currently in the frame for Paul's attempted murder, Novakovic said: "Personally I didn't think it was Andrew [Robinson, played by Jordan Smith] because that's how I had to play it.

"But then something happens and you think, 'Maybe it was'. There are so many ups and downs. It's all very exciting." Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
