6409: Kate misses a chance with Kyle

Gearing up to tell Kyle how she feels about him, nervous Kate begins her date preparation early, but she is thwarted when Sophie arrives, needing homework help. Sophie questions why Kate is going to such an effort for Kyle, suspicious that Kate might be making a play for her friend's boyfriend. Kate insists she is not, but admits she does like Kyle.

Sophie begs Kate not to do anything that will hurt Jade, and Kate is thrown by her sister's heartfelt plea. But she ultimately decides to go through with her plan, getting ready for the date. However, Kate's plans are scuttled when Kyle cancels the date, choosing instead to go on a trip to Sydney with Jade.

Meanwhile, thrown when Tash turns up on their doorstep, Karl and Summer agree she needs their support. But Tash quickly makes herself a little too at home, infuriating first Summer then Karl.

Although Karl reminds Summer of the need to treat Tash with kindness, he's the one who finally snaps. To his surprise, Tash admits she knows she's hard to live with, and Karl apologises and insists she's welcome to stay, helping Tash farewell her family home.
