Marc Bannerman wants 'Coronation Street' Carla brother role

Marc Bannerman
Marc Bannerman has revealed his ambition to play Carla Connor's brother in Coronation Street.

Bosses on the ITV soap are yet to officially cast the long-lost lothario, who was unveiled in March.

Bannerman, who previously starred in EastEnders, told Inside Soap: "I hear they're casting for Carla Connor's brother in Corrie at the moment - I'd love to do that.

"I'd love to be in another soap. I really loved the relationships we built up in EastEnders, and the fact you get such a long time to develop your character."

The 38-year-old appeared in the Albert Square serial between 1998 and 2000 as Gianni di Marco.

Bannerman appeared on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2007, where he fell in love with Cerys Matthews. Their relationship ended a year later.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Michelle Connor actress Kym Marsh confirmed that husband Jamie Lomas - who has been linked with the soap - auditioned for the role.
